Meet the Tall Foods Team

Andrea Romero, Co-Founder

 

After several years living in Mozamibique and having traveled extensively to the premier ostrich marketplace throughout the Garden Route of South Africa, she has been dedicated to bringing the farming and ranching techniques that have taken over the world by storm, and delivering them to farmers in her home state, New Mexico.  

 

Andrea took the Tall Foods idea to her local Startup Weekend and judges were convinced that this viable business should take the grand prize for 'Best Social Enterprise'. From that point, she has been dedicated to get the birds off the ground and into the marketplace. 

 

Andrea Romero is a graduate of Stanford University with an extensive background in international development, food systems research and political science. Her passion and research has continued to bringing sustainable food systems to rural communities.

Dr. Adam Wachtor, Co-Founder

 

Dr. Wachtor joined the team immediately after the Startup Weekend win, traveling from farm to farm throughout the U.S. researching optimal ranching techniques. With a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, he is bringing Tall Foods into the world of the best practices in farming throughout the world. 

 

With an excitement for 'building better mousetraps' Adam brings the team an extensive scientific dynamic. As a research scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, he is dedicated to ensuring Tall Foods is constantly progressing in the world of new and innovative techniques to optimize ranching and harvesting processes.

 

Adam received his PhD from UC Irvine, his Masters in Applied Mechanics from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, and his B.S. in Physics at University of Illinois. 

Audrey Lopez, Sales & Tactical Support

 

Audrey has been working in sales and construction since since her teenaged years. She joined the team in December 2014 as a tactical supporter in the Impact Network Santa Fe Fellowship, and then became enamoured with Tall Foods. 

 

Audrey genuinely believes in the sustainablity factors and delicious products that makes up the Tall Foods brand. She sees ostrich as a revolutionary product in the wake of water scarcity, drought and land degredation. 

 

Her lifetime of experience as a gardener, beekeeper and overall lover of the outdoors brings Tall Foods great energy and understanding of the environmental temperment throughout the Southwest. As an early adopter of Tall Foods, she is dedicated to brining ostrich from farm to table. 

 

Audrey is a lifelong New Mexican resident and human rights advocate. 

Richard "Richie Rich" Oellien, 
Ranch Manager Extraordinaire

 

Rich is a native New Mexican, lover of birds and adventure. As a jack of all trades, rich Manages day-to-day operations at Tall Foods, as our gentle giant, genius builder, bird watcher, ranch planner and executer.  Rich comes from industry in big-time construction, managing and shaping heavy minerals, welding, pottery, etc. Richie Rich is behind daily data capture on maintaining our resource watch on water and feed consumption, while checking in on our birds' activities. 

Tall Foods addition of Rich Oellien is a tremendous success and huge talent addition to our growing team.
